Good quality and fit January 5, 2009 Very good quality and fit for nuvi 755T. Well padded - shold've been included with the unit (like the 350)
Garvin Leather carrying case January 3, 2009 Very good case, the garmin nuvi 760 fits in it very well and protects the device. I recommend it for anyone purchasing the garmin gps.
Poor fit for the Garmin 760 December 31, 2008 I purchased the garmin leather carrying case along with a stand and Garmin 760 for a Christmas gift to my husband. I have a Garmin 750 and had scratched the screen when I placed in my console, so I bought two carrying cases (one for my husband and one for me). When I opened the plastic cover and took out the case, I found I could not place my Garmin in the case without forcing it in. It is such a tight fit and the Garmin really doesn"t fit all the way in it. I am sure it will tear if I used this case. Anyway,I thought the new Garmin might be sleeker and fit better than mine since the case was offered when I purchased the Garmin from Amazon. Low and behold, my husband's new Garmin is identical in size to mine and fits just as poorly. Why was this cas offered with a Garmin when the fit is such a poor one? I am now out over $30.00 because I opened one plastic package, and it is 10 days past the 15-day window for return. I am not at all happy about this purchase.
Bought this too quickly... December 30, 2008 Bought this for the 750 because it didn't come with a case. A similar (smaller) case came with my 360 and I didn't think this purchase through. After using it and comparing the other cases out there, I would buy a different case.
This slipcase for the 750 fits tight. That's good. The Nuvi won't slip out. But because the 750's on/off switch is now a slider on the top left corner, if you slide it into the case naturally (unit in your right hand, case in your left) the switch rubs against the case. When you pull the unit out, it "automatically" turns on. Thus if you were to pull the unit out partially then push it back in, you could turn it on and not know it.
The solution is to invert the Nuvi so its switch will be at the open end of the case after it's in the case. That way you can see the switch's on/off position and verify it's not on.
More practical issues:
Pros:
- Nicely made: very high quality
- Very compact
- Adequate protection against rattling inside a glove compartment or briefcase
- Good basic case
Cons:
- It can accidentally turn the unit on
- It's black: can't find it easily in the dark buried at the bottom of my shoulder bag when traveling. Experienced this with the 360's case. And if it falls on the floor of a rental car at night, good luck trying to find it. Wish it came in natural leather color.
- Offers no protection while hand holding the unit while walking
The Garmin Nuvi 800 Series Carrying Case case is a wallet style that flips open to reveal the screen. It stays on the unit during use and offers some protection if you dropped your Nuvi on the sidewalk while walking. Downside with that unit appears to be that the cover flap does not latch, allowing the case to flip open in a briefcase and the screen to be scratched by other junk. And it's also black and can get lost on a car floor.
Another alternate is one of the many zippered semi-rigid or neoprene cases.
Nice Addition December 28, 2008 The leather carrying case for the garmin is a nice addition. When leaving the car, we usually take it with us and the case makes it much easier to carry.
